Tygarts Valley Middle/High School celebrating homecoming
MILL CREEK — Tygarts Valley Middle/High School is in the midst of celebrating Homecoming and Spirit Week this week.
A theme has been set for each day of the week. On Monday TVHS hosted Movie Monday. Tuesday was billed as Totally Tuesday and the school will celebrate Wonder Woman Wednesday today, with every student encouraged to dress up like their favorite superhero.
The school will honor service members with Thank You for Your Service Thursday. Friday has been tabbed as Fans of the Bulldogs Friday, with everyone asked to wear red and white.
Friday will also feature a pep rally and powder puff football game, and later that night the homecoming queen will be chosen during a rose ceremony at halftime of the Bulldogs’ contest with Clay-Battelle.
Princesses for the senior class include Abby Grimmett, Ally Grimmett, Landrie Lanham, Brenlyn Swecker and Emily Tackett. One of those five will be selected as homecoming queen for 2021.
“We will have five boxes with roses in them and whoever gets the one with the white rose will be homecoming queen,” said TVHS Principal Steve Wamsley. “Something else we are doing this year, since it’s the 50th anniversary of our first football team from 1971-72, we are having the first homecoming queen, Peggy Williams, come and crown our queen for this year.”
The junior class representative is Caydin Daniel and the sophomore class is Rommie Shumate. The freshman representative is Janie Blackwood.
Aleighna Brenwalt and Adam Ayers are the eighth-grade representatives, while Lilly Lanham and Drew Arbogast represent the seventh grade, and Grayson Gragg and Ella Scott represent the sixth grade
Kickoff for Friday night’s football game at Bulldog Field is scheduled for 7 p.m.
