BUCKHANNON — The Rotary Club of Buckhannon-Upshur is helping provide food for the needy during the holidays.

The club recently assisted the Upshur County Parish House in distributing Thanksgiving meals.

The meals provided families with either a turkey breast or ham along with all the Thanksgiving fixings, including mashed potatoes, green beans, stuffing, cranberry sauce and apple or pumpkin pie filling.

“Our Rotary Club is dedicated to fulfilling our motto of “Service Above Self,’” said Kathy McMurray, president of the Rotary Club of Buckhannon-Upshur. “We are happy to assist them in ensuring that all families enjoy the holidays.”

The Parish House has also started collecting items for Christmas meal baskets.

Needed items include candied yams, corn, pork and beans, box stuffing, cake mix and frosting.

Distribution of Christmas meal baskets will begin Saturday, Dec. 11 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. curbside.
