Nonprofit applications being accepted
BUCKHANNON — As part of its Healthy Communities Initiative for 2022-2023, the Pallottine Foundation of Buckhannon is currently accepting grant applications from health-focused nonprofit organizations.
The Initiative will provide up to $25,000 in grant funding to programs that align with the Foundation’s mission to support transformative health initiatives. The foundation is looking for partners from Barbour, Lewis, Randolph, Upshur and Webster counties. Funding consideration will be for nonprofits that display continual, or the development of, health and wellness, capacity-building, and spiritual and pastoral care programs.
“The Pallottine Foundation is excited to partner with dedicated nonprofits that inspire people to make healthier choices,” said Janell Ray, executive director of the Pallottine Foundation of Buckhannon. “These organizations provide important services that address a variety of health-related challenges, such as access to health care, mental and behavioral health, substance use disorder, and chronic disease management.
“Our goal is to provide supportive and impactful resources that contribute to healthier lives for everyone in our communities.”
The work of the Pallottine Missionary Sisters continues through the Pallottine Foundation, which was established in 2015. The Pallontine Missionary Sisters, which began their work in the area when St. Joseph’s Hospital opened back in 1921, continue to be devoted to the care and outreach of the community in which they serve.
The Foundation has established three “Major Areas” and three “Broader Areas” of focus for the Foundation. The Major Areas include: Food Insecurity, Substance Use Disorder, and Tobacco Use Prevention and Cessation. The Broader Areas are: Health and Wellness, Capacity Building, and Spiritual and Pastoral Care.
Grant applications must be received by Feb. 11 and completed on the Foundation’s website at www.pallottinebuckhannon.org. Funding awards will be announced in late March.
