Health Department community outreach event scheduled

ELKINS — The Randolph-Elkins Health Department is gearing up for Community Outreach 2022, scheduled to be offered at Elkins Town Square on June 8.

The Randolph County Mobile Command Unit will serve as the base for the wellness event, which will run from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Nurses from the Randolph-Elkins Health Department will conduct free blood, temperature, pulse and oxygen checks throughout the day.

The REHD is also offering free vaccinations for tetanus, pneumonia and shingles at the wellness gathering. It will also provide family planning consultations and pregnancy tests for those interested.

“We’re excited to offer this health and wellness opportunity to our communities,” Kim Urban, RN Nurse Director for Randolph-Elkins Health Department, said. “Our goal is to give our citizens a chance to receive vaccinations, have lab work done, or address basic health concerns all in one stop. While not a substitute for health care by a personal provider, we hope this opportunity will give a lot of people reminders to care for themselves, as well.”

The REHD will also offer Direct Laboratory Access Tests through the Davis Medical Center, including Lipid Panel, Glucose, PSA, CBC, Hemoglobin A1c and TSH. Payment for lab tests will be due at time of service. Insurances will not be billed.

The Randolph-Elkins Health Department is also offering a School Age Vaccine Clinic, which is for students in seventh through the 12th grade. The clinic began in May and will continue through August. There will be one clinic on June 15 and two in July (13 and 27). The final day of the clinic will be on Aug. 3.

The School Age Clinics will run in the morning from 9 a.m. until noon, and in the afternoon from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Vaccinations and boosters are available for everyone by calling and making an appointment at the health at 304-636-0396.
