Beverly’s Old Fashioned Christmas celebration set Saturday

BEVERLY — The historic town of Beverly will be filled with holiday cheer on Saturday as a host of events are planned during the annual Old Fashioned Christmas celebration.

The festivities will kick off early in the morning with the annual Breakfast with Santa event at the Beverly Fire Department. The breakfast, which will feature both Santa and Mrs. Claus, will take place from 8 a.m. until 11 a.m.

Proceeds from the breakfast will support the GFWC Junior Woman’s Club of Elkins and the Tigerettes, who will be helping serve pancakes, sausage and drinks.

A Christmas Luncheon will be offered at the Beverly Presbyterian Church from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. The lunch will include homemade soup, sandwiches, a drink and dessert, as well as baked goods, pickles, jams and cookie trays available to purchase.

Events at the Beverly Heritage Center are scheduled to get underway at 10 a.m., with children’s Christmas activities throughout the day. Hot cocoa and cookies will be available, and children attending will receive a free gift.

“We will have face painting, ornament making and all kinds of other fun stuff for the kids.” said Beverly Heritage Center Director Lissa Eason, adding that the event will also feature live music.

For those who miss Santa Clause at breakfast, he will make another appearance as Father Christmas at the Heritage Center from noon to 4 p.m. Craft vendors will be set up throughout the day, and Pam and  Art Dodd will be performing live Christmas music from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

“We have some vendors who will have some goods for sale for the adults,” Eason said. “It’s going to be a really fun day and we have things going on all over town from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. There is going to be plenty to do for the kids and their families in the town of Beverly on Saturday. We look forward to seeing everyone enjoying the holiday and celebrating together.”

The annual Christmas Tree lighting ceremony will be at Beverly Town Square at 5:30 p.m. at the conclusion of the event.

“We will meet at Town Square for the tree lighting and caroling,” Eason said. “We are asking everyone to be there at 5 p.m. so that we can get everything organized. The tree lighting will take place soon after.”
