BUCKHANNON — A longtime charitable organization based in Upshur County is seeking applications for an annual grant program.

The Pallottine Foundation of Buckhannon will begin accepting grant applications Tuesday, Jan. 7 for its next Healthy Communities Initiative.

The initiative provides funding to 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations for health-focused projects that address needs in Barbour, Lewis, Randolph, Upshur and Webster counties. The initiative also supports projects that improve a nonprofit’s internal capacity to work effectively and develop strong finances, leadership, and infrastructure.

“The Healthy Communities Initiative provides funding and support for projects that positively impact health,” said Laura Boone, Executive Director of the Pallottine Foundation of Buckhannon. “Each year, we partner with nonprofit organizations that empower individuals to lead healthy lives and provide support in a respectful, dignified way that aligns with our mission and values.”

Through Healthy Communities, organizations may receive up to $25,000 in grant funding for continuation or development of programs that address health and wellness, capacity building, food insecurity, substance use disorder, tobacco prevention and cessation, or spiritual and pastoral care in the Buckhannon area.

In April, the Pallottine Foundation of Buckhannon announced more than $60,000 in grants to 10 local nonprofit organizations through its Healthy Communities Initiative. .
