Dilly postpones Harman School hearings
ELKINS – Randolph County Superintendent of Schools Dr. Shawn Dilly announced this morning that the public hearings and vote on closing the Harman K-12 school, scheduled for this evening, have been postponed due to “inclement weather.”
The hearings and vote will now take place on Tuesday, beginning at 5:30 p.m. at Elkins High School.
On Friday, a Randolph County Board of Education representative told The Inter-Mountain that the public hearings and BOE vote on closing the Harman K-12 School would definitely be held Monday night, even if classes in all the county schools were canceled for the day due to the weather.
Classes were canceled for today in Randolph County Schools due to the weather, a decision announced Sunday afternoon.
Dilly sent the following email to The Inter-Mountain this morning:
“Due to inclement weather, the public hearing regarding the proposed closure of Harman School has been rescheduled. The hearing will now occur on Tuesday, January 7th, at 5:30 p.m. at Elkins High School.
“This decision ensures everyone has a fair opportunity to attend and share their input. As outlined in the original hearing notice, the alternate date and time were provided to accommodate unforeseen circumstances such as this.
“Thank you for your understanding and flexibility as we prioritize community participation in this vital matter.”
