Man charged with attempted murder in stabbing incident

BUCKHANNON — A man has been charged with attempted murder after a stabbing incident at an Upshur County bar Saturday.
Dustyn Walton, 28, has been charged with attempted murder and malicious wounding. He is being held in the Tygart Valley Regional Jail on a $250,000 cash-only bond.
According to the criminal complaint, Buckhannon Police Department officers responded to a reported stabbing call at the Kanawha Lounge.
Officers found a man lying on the bar’s bathroom floor with blood-soaked clothing, the complaint states, noting he had a laceration on his upper abdomen.
The victim said he had been stabbed outside the bar by Walton, according to the complaint. Witnesses told police the same, with one witness saying Walton used what appeared to be a steak knife in the stabbing.
Witnesses said the victim saw Walton urinating outside the bar and spoke to him, and that when the man turned to go back inside the bar, Walton stabbed him, the complaint states. The victim was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Buckhannon, and later taken to Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.
