ROCK CAVE — An Upshur County man succumbed to injuries sustained after falling into a creek at his home Monday on McDowell Lane, police said.

The Upshur County Sheriff’s Office received a call for service Monday regarding an active water rescue at the home of Roger Haymond, 44, according to a press release from the office.

Haymond and his wife had gone to a stream on the property to fill water jugs, and while doing so Haymond fell into the water, the release states.

Haymond’s wife left the scene and returned to the couples’ home to call 911, police said.

The Upshur County Sheriff’s Office, Upshur EMS, and local fire departments arrived at the scene and provided medical care to Haymond, according to the release.
