ELKINS — The Randolph County Humane Society will offer its 13th annual Spayghetti Dinner at the beginning of March.

The largest annual fundraiser for RCHS, the dinner will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on March 8 at the Phil Gainer Community Center on 142 Robert E. Lee Ave. in Elkins.

Tickets for the dinner will be available for purchase next week from RCHS board members and several local businesses. More information will also be on the RCHS social media pages.

“We are raising money for our TNVR, our Trap-Neuter-Vaccinate-Return efforts,” RCHS President and Acting Vice President of Outreach Jenna Lee told The Inter-Mountain. “We also use those funds for community vouchers for individual pet owners in the community that need assistance affording the cost of spay/neuter.”

According to Lee, the cost of spay/neuter has gone up in the past few years, making it harder for pet owners to afford the procedures. The RCHS has been trying to help people with the costs when they can.

The meal will be prepared by St. Patrick’s Guild of Coalton.

“We are thankful and extremely grateful to the ladies of the St. Patrick’s Guild of Coalton that have agreed to come back and do it again for us this year,” Lee said.

Alongside the spaghetti dinners, which can be for dine-in or take-out, RCHS will also have merchandise for sale and information on volunteering, donating and getting involved. There will also be an on-sight adoption event where participants can interact with dogs and cats from RCHS.

“(Spay/neuter) is one of our primary goals, next to caring for the animals that are at the shelter,” Lee said. “It can’t be overstated, the importance of spaying and neutering. The most humane way to control pet overpopulation is right from the beginning, before they have opportunities to repopulate.”
