Local man charged with child abuse

COLE

BUCKHANNON — An Audra man is facing four felonies after an incident that took place on Hinkle Drive last week.

Woodie Thomas Cole II, 44, was arrested and charged with burglary, child abuse, domestic battery-second offense, and strangulation after police were called in response to a 911 call.

According to the criminal complaint, once on scene, police met with a female subject who was unable to get her door open to her residence due to it being slammed shut. Officers made their way to the back of the home and made contact with a juvenile, who stated that his brother was in the bathroom and he had been trying to get him out.

The complaint says that the juvenile in the bathroom had called Cole to pick him up and once he arrived at the home, he allegedly kicked the door open at the residence to make entry. According to one of the juveniles, Cole allegedly started smacking the other juvenile in the face and slammed him against the wall of the living room. Cole then allegedly put the juvenile on the ground and began choking him.

According to the criminal complaint, police observed red marks on the face, neck and arms of the juvenile, as well as a blood blister on his foot. The juvenile told police that while Cole was allegedly choking him, he could not breath.

Cole is currently lodged in the Tygarts Valley Regional Jail on two cash-only bonds of $30,000 and $25,000.

Starting at $3.92/week.
