Randolph County had second-highest total of deer harvested in WV

ELKINS — Randolph County had the second-highest county total of deer harvested during the 2024-25 West Virginia hunting seasons, according to statistics from the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources.
A total of 4,065 deer were harvested in Randolph County, which was second only to the 4,943 deer harvested in Preston County during 2024-25.
Randolph County ranked high in many categories, including second in deer harvested during Buck Firearms season with 1,583. Greenbrier County was first in the state with 1,756 deer harvested.
Randolph was ranked eighth in Antlerless deer season harvest numbers with 1,101.
Randolph County ranked second in Muzzleloader harvest totals with 206. Nicholas County was first in the state with 207 deer harvested.
Randolph was also ranked second in Archery/Crossbow season harvest totals, with 1,144 deer. Preston County was first in the state with 1,503.
Randolph County also totaled 31 deer harvested during the Mountaineer Heritage season.
Upshur County totaled 3,286 total deer harvested in 2024-25, ranking seventh in the state.
Upshur totaled 1,033 deer harvested during Buck Firearms season, and 1,203 during Antlerless season.
During Muzzleloader season, Upshur County totaled 150 deer, with 873 during Archery/Crossbow season, and 27 during Mountaineer Heritage season.
Barbour County totaled 2,430 deer harvested during the 2024-25 seasons.
During Buck Firearms season, 780 deer were harvested in Barbour County, while 859 were harvested during Antlerless season in Barbour.
During Muzzleloader season, Barbour County totaled 119 deer, with 651 during Archery/Crossbow season, and 21 during Mountaineer Heritage season.
A total of 2,157 deer were harvested in Pocahontas County during the 2024-25 hunting seasons.
During Buck Firearms season, 1,269 deer were harvested in Pocahontas County, while 412 were harvested during Antlerless season in Pocahontas.
During Muzzleloader season, Pocahontas County totaled 70 deer, with 401 during Archery/Crossbow season, and 5 during Mountaineer Heritage season.
Tucker County totaled 1,728 deer harvested during the 2024-25 seasons.
During Buck Firearms season, 763 deer were harvested in Tucker County, while 419 were harvested during Antlerless season in Tucker.
During Muzzleloader season, Tucker County totaled 72 deer, with 470 during Archery/Crossbow season, and 4 during Mountaineer Heritage season.
