Teenager killed in accident at Blackwater Falls State Park Sunday
DAVIS — A teenager was killed when she was struck by a tree branch while sledding at Blackwater Falls State Park Sunday, officials said.
Troopers arrived at the Blackwater Falls State Park Sled Run at about 2:30 p.m. Sunday after a report of a 14-year-old girl suffering a head injury, a West Virginia State Police Parsons Detachment release.
The branch fell from a tree near the top of the sled run, the release states. Emergency responders and relatives at the scene attempted life-saving measures, but the girl died at the scene, according to the release. The girl was from Virginia and was visiting Blackwater Falls with her family, the release states. The incident is being investigated by the State Police and the state Division of Natural Resources.
