Guest dies while skiing at Timberline
DAVIS – Timberline Mountain in Tucker County has announced that a guest died while skiing at the resort Wednesday.
The resort made the announcement on its Facebook page, adding it wasn’t releasing any additional details about the incident out of respect for the family and loved ones affected by the tragedy.
The statement reads, “The incident remains under investigation. We ask for the community’s understanding that out of respect for the family, we have no further details to share at this time.
“We are immensely grateful to our ski patrol, staff, and local first responders for their swift and professional efforts. Our thoughts are with all those impacted by this devastating event.”
A representative with the Tucker County Sheriff’s Department confirmed the death on Thursday and that the department is investigating the incident.
Timberline Mountain has a peak elevation of 4,268 feet, with more than a 1,000-foot vertical drop and more than 20 trails for skiers and snowboarders of all levels. Its 2-mile Salamander Trail is the longest run in West Virginia.
