Upshur woman accused of selling drugs near a school

BUCKHANNON – An Upshur County woman is behind bars after allegedly selling methamphetamine to a confidential informant near a school.

Tiffani Dawn Sparks, 43, is charged with delivery of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), and distribution of a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a school, both felonies.

She is being held in the Tygart Valley Regional Jail on a $75,000 cash-only bond.

According to the criminal complaint, prepared by Patrolman James Fisher of the Buckhannon Police Department and the Mountain Region Drug and Violent Crime Task Force, a confidential informant purchased drugs from Sparks.

On March 4, the confidential informant met with Sparks at the Zickefoose Trailer Park in Buckhannon, the criminal complaint states. The informant allegedly bought 2 grams of methamphetamine from Sparks for $100.

The controlled purchase was made within 1,000 feet of the Stockert Youth Center in Buckhannon, according to the complaint.

Both audio and video of the interaction were recorded, the complaint states.
