Don D. Gibson

GIBSON

Don David Gibson, 76, a resident of Mill Creek, passed from this life Monday, June 17, 2019, at home and under the care of Mountain Hospice.

Don was born Sunday, Aug. 2, 1942, in Slatyfork, a son of the late Odie Grant Gibson and Chloe Hannah Gibson.

On July 2, 1964, in Baltimore, Maryland, he married the former Eula Jean Hevener, who survives.

Also left to cherish his memory is one daughter, Norma Jean Mathes and husband Danny of New Market, Virginia, three brothers, Arnold Gibson of Huntington, Earl Gibson of Baltimore, Maryland, and Denny Gibson of Belington, three grandchildren, Missy Mathes Crist of Timberville, Virginia, Heather Gibson of Quicksburg, Virginia, and Daniel Mathes of New Market, Virginia, and two great-grandchildren, Michaela and Abigail Crist of Timberville, Virginia.

Preceding Don in death besides his parents was one son, Henry Gibson, one sister, and two brothers.

Don attended the schools of Pocahontas and Randolph counties. He had been employed at Howel Leather Co, for many years and then several years at Colonial Millworks prior to retiring. Don enjoyed playing cards, hunting, working in the garden and spending time with family, friends, and his two dogs.

Don’s request for cremation was honored and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
