Loren Fitzwater


Loren Keith “Fitz” Fitzwater, 85, a resident of the Moore community, Montrose, departed this life early Tuesday morning, July 9, 2019, at Cortland Acres at Thomas. He had been in declining health.

He was born Saturday, April 7, 1934, at St. George, a son of the late Roy and Snodie Alice Tennant Fitzwater.

On June 9, 1962, at Red House, Maryland, he was married to the former Anna Mae “Annie” Cale, who survives. They had celebrated 57 years of marriage.

Also surviving are two daughters, Mabel Ann Fitzwater and companion, Rick Ward, and April Lynn Fitzwater, all of the Moore community; one brother, Alfred Roy Fitzwater and wife, Barbara, of Limestone; one sister, Carol Jean Fitzwater Owens and husband, Bruce, of Licking Creek; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death are one brother, Robert William “Bobby” Fitzwater; and two sisters, Lena Annabelle “Ann” Fitzwater Cross Harper and Rosealea Catherine Fitzwater Harper.

He attended the one-room school at Auviltown. He was a log truck driver, a sawmill worker and a former employee of the Allegheny Wood Products, retiring in 1999. He was a Methodist by faith. “Fitz” enjoyed hunting, fishing, coon hunting, traveling and exploring caves and gardening. He loved visiting people, was an animal lover, his two cats, Murdock and Pikachu, and he never met a stranger.

The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday, July 12, at 11 a.m. The Rev. Pat Cassidy will officiate and interment will follow at the Pifer Mountain Cemetery at St. George.
