Roy L. Moore
Roy Lee Moore, 81, a resident of Mabie, passed away Thursday evening, July 11, 2019, at his home following an extended illness.
He was born Aug. 15, 1937, at Mill Creek, a son of the late Grover Moore and the late Meady Alice Collins Moore.
On Sept. 24, 1960, at Winchester, Virginia, he was married to Ruth Delores Watson Moore, who survives at Mabie.
Also surviving are two daughters, Valerie Jones of Fairmont and Rebecca Miller of Mabie.
Seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren also survive.
Also preceding him in death was one son, Kevin Lee Moore; seven brothers, Lawrence, Edward, Perry, Frances, Russell, Denzil and Albert Moore; and four sisters, Ethel Brewer, Hazel Barb, Rebecca and Angel Moore.
Mr. Moore attended the schools of Randolph County and was employed for many years as a coal miner, retiring from Bethlehem Coal Company. He was a member of the Rowan United Methodist Church and attended the Harrison Community Church. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved his farm.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, July 15, 2019, at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 16t, from the funeral home chapel. Rev. Stella Faye Moyer will officiate and interment will follow in the Mountain State Memorial Gardens near Gilman.
