James E. Banks

Mr. James Edward “Jim” Banks, 83, a resident of Belington, departed this life Saturday, Aug. 31, 2019, near Weston, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

He was born March 13, 1936, at Rockbridge County, Virginia, a son of the late Thurman Edward and Edna Banks.

He is survived by his wife; Joyce Banks of Roanoke, Virginia, children; Jay Banks of Belington, Tyrick Banks of Belington, Lorenzo Banks, Rayshawn Banks, Tuwana Banks, Pamela Keegan, Titus Banks, Pierre Banks, all of Virginia. Surviving grandchildren are Abigail Werner, Nakeysha Banks, Ellie Robinson, Christopher Banks, Sopheary Banks, Naveh Nichols, Aaron Pritt, Camden Banks, Demarlo Banks, Christopher Banks, Siara Banks, Keshay Banks, Markwuan Banks, Sapphire Banks and Lorenza Hurley. Surviving great grandchildren are Jazmin Jackson, Raekwon Banks, Ziyian Graham, Kenisha Banks, Janasia Yarborough, Ziyana Banks, Ariyah Banks and Makynzaee Banks, one great-great grandchild, Torriano Board and one sister, Zelda Lane of Baltimore, Maryland.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two infant children.

Mr. Banks attended the schools of Virginia and was a Protestant by faith. Jim was a heavy equipment operator most of his working career, retiring from Plano Contracting where he also ran heavy equipment. Jim was a hardworking man, loved his family, had a heart of gold and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Mr. Banks wishes for cremation was honored. A memorial service will be conducted from the Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday, Sept. 8, at 2 p.m.
