Nina L. Allen
Mrs. Nina Lee Weese Allen, 89, a resident of Belington and more recently of the Elkins Rehabilitation Care Center in Elkins, departed this life early Monday morning, Jan. 13, 2020, in the care facility. Death was following a period of declining health.
She was born July 19, 1930, in the Mount Liberty community, near Philippi, a daughter of the late Harold Custer and Ethel Booth Weese.
On Jan. 8, 1947, she was united in marriage to Columbus Floyd “Bud” Allen, who preceded her in death May 10, 2012.
She is survived by her four children; Dennis Allen & fiancee Susie Moats of Belington, Kenneth Allen and wife Sherry of Belington, Beverly Duvall and husband Bus of Grafton, and Vickie Rohde and husband Steve of Greenville, South Carolina, and one brother; Arnold Floyd Weese and wife Patricia of Belington. Additional survivors include nine grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by eight brothers; Luther Weese, Norman “Bus” Weese, Garfield Weese, Grant “Dick” Weese, Faye Weese, Eugene “Bunny” Weese, Billie Weese and Homer Weese, three sisters; Ruth “Tootsie” Mitchell, Irene Ensminger and Erma Hoffman, and twin infant sisters; Mary and Martha Weese. Also preceding her in death was a great-grandson; Timothy Reese.
Nina was a graduate of the Philippi High School and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Valley Bend Baptist Church near Belington, and formerly was an EMT with the Belington Emergency Squad and was also one of the founding members. She was a member of the Hilltoppers CEOS Club and loved to listen to blue grass and gospel music. She was a wonderful mother, wife, daughter, grandmother, and friend and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Friends will be received at the Talbott Funeral Home, 56 N. Brandenburg St. in Belington on Wednesday, Jan. 15, from 5 – 9 p.m. and again on Thursday from 8 a.m. – noon, the funeral hour, when final rites will be conducted with Pastor Jamie Andrews officiating. Interment to follow in the West Virginia National Cemetery at Grafton; where she will be laid to rest with her husband.
