Virginia ‘Ginger’ Collett Long Scott
Virginia Ann “Ginger” Collett Long Scott, 71, a resident of Elkins, and more recently a resident of Princeton, departed this life Sunday evening, Feb. 9, 2020, at Princeton.
She was born Thursday, Dec. 2, 1948, at Elkins, a daughter of the late Erwin Bennett Collett and Mary Allene Collett.
She was twice married. First to Daniel Earl Long and second to Patrick Scott, both whom preceded her in death.
Surviving are one daughter, Lara Dawn Bista of Harrisburg, North Carolina; one sister, Judith Allene “Judy” Hake and husband Robin of Latrobe, Pennsylvania; two grandchildren, Neil Bista and Christian Rogers; two nieces, Lisa and Linda; and nine great nieces and nephews.
Also preceding her in death is one sister, Carolyn Marie Jones.
She was a graduate of Elkins High School with the class of 1967 and a graduate of Davis & Elkins College. She was a nurse working for Davis Memorial Hospital and the Coordinating Council for Independent Living. She was a member of the Otterbein United Methodist Church at Elkins.
The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins on Thursday, Feb. 13, from 10 to 11 a.m. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home on Thursday at 11 a.m. The Rev. Dr. Basil A. Hensley will officiate and interment will follow at the Mountain State Memorial Gardens at Gilman.
