Wesley ‘Wes’ John Gibson


Wesley “Wes” John Gibson, 49, a resident of Elkins, passed from this life Wednesday, April 1, 2020, at Ruby Memorial Hospital surrounded by family and under the care of West Virginia Caring.

Wes was born Wednesday, Aug. 19, 1970, in Elkins, a son of John Gibson and stepmom, Vickie, and Dianne Marstiller and husband, Dick.

On Oct. 16, 2010, in Elkins, he married the love of his life, Samantha Lee Pomp Gibson.

Others left to cherish Wes’ memory is his father-in-law, Kenny Pomp and mother-in-law, Teresa Pomp, one sister, Alyssa Gibson, one brother, Mitch Marstiller and wife, Amy, one brother-in-law, Jonathan Pomp and wife, Lindsay, four nieces, Callie, Delia, Emberlee, and Carlee, one nephew, Kipton, many cousins, aunts, and uncles.

Preceding Wesley in death were his paternal grandparents, his maternal grandparents, two aunts, Wanda Siler and Bonnie Marstiller.

Wes was a graduate of Elkins High School with the class of 1988. He had worked for Tom’s Mobile and later began working for Chris See at Elkins Sunoco and then See’s Automotive. He enjoyed hunting, camping, spending time with his friends and family. He loved working on Garret Paugh’s race car and going to dirt track races. He would help anyone. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.

A graveside service will be held at Mountain State Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Kevin Gainer officiating.
