Edmond E. Madison

Edmond Elwood Madison, 62, of 304 Columbia Ave., Atlas, Pennsylvania, formerly of Valley Bend, passed away Friday, July 10, 2020, in Atlas.

Born in Marlinton, on Sept. 2, 1957, he was the son of the late Russell and Bertha (Tipton) Madison.

Elwood was a 1976 graduate of Tygarts Valley High School where he was a member of the band. He served in the U.S. Army from 1976 to 1978 and the U.S. Army Reserves from 1978 to 1982.

On May 16, 2003, in Shamokin, Pennsylvania, he married Charlotte (Lutcavage) Madison, who preceded him in death on Sept. 6, 2013.

Elwood had last been employed at International Paper in Mt. Carmel Township where he was a machine operator.

Surviving are two stepsons, Peter Madison (Cathy) of Kulpmont, Pennsylvania, and James Madison of Marion Heights, Pennsylvania: two granddaughters, Brianna Madison of Mt. Carmel, Pennsylvania, and Karli Madison of Natalie, Pennsylvania; two bothers, James Madison of Atlas, Pennsylvania, and Preston Madison of White Sulphur Springs; two sisters, Brenda Cogar of Elkins and Peggy Smalles of Lewisburg; two foster brothers, Dale Church of Cary, North Carolina, and Charles Church of Valley Bend; one foster sister, Joan Lunsford of Bowden; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his foster parents, Daniel and Geneva Church of Valley Bend; two foster brothers, Harold Church of Easley, South Carolina, and Robert Church of Las Vegas, Nevada; and one foster sister, Carolyn Church Patrick Roy of Elkins.

Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
