Carolyn Sue Phillips Bennett

Carolyn Sue Phillips Bennett, 69, a resident of Seneca Rocks, passed from this life Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2020, at Grant Memorial Hospital in Petersburg. She had been in her usual health and death was unexpected.

Carolyn was born Saturday, March 10, 1951, in Belington, a daughter of the late Edward Phillips and Maggie Vest Phillips.

On March 13, 1967, Carolyn was married to Jerry Bennett, who preceded her in death on May 28, 2013.

Left to cherish Carolyn’s memory are four children, Jerry Lee Bennett and companion, Kim, of Seneca Rocks, Robert ” Bobby” P. Bennett and wife, Vera, of Belington, Tonya S. Underwood and companion, Donald Plum, of Belington, and Rebecca “Becky” Tingler, and husband, James, of Circleville, a twin sister, Betty Lou Phillips of Buckhannon, one brother, Jim Phillips of Oklahoma, 10 grandchildren, Lea-Ann, JR, Lloyd, Richard, Nevaeh, Ashley, Austin, Howie, Makayla, and Lexy, several great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, and her pug, Milo.

Preceding her in death besides her parents and husband, were numerous siblings.

Carolyn attended the schools of Barbour County, and she had worked as a cook for Barbour County Schools. She enjoyed making crocheted dolls to sit on beds. She also enjoyed joining her grandkids on their field trips, and she loved spending time with family and attending family gatherings. She was a Baptist by faith.

Visitation will be held at Randolph Funeral Home on Saturday, Aug. 8, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., the funeral hour. Interment will follow in Trinity Cemetery on Georgetown Road near Beverly. As we continue following guidelines from the CDC and Gov. Jim Justice’s recent mandate, facial coverings are required for those attending.
