Jimmie Franklin Knight
Mr. Jimmie Franklin Knight, 86, of Belington, departed this life Sunday afternoon, Aug. 9, 2020, at his residence. Death was following a period of declining health.
He was born Sept. 15, 1933, at Belington, son of the late Birdsell Jennings and Ethel Genevive Streets Knight.
On Nov. 27, 1953, at Philippi, he was united in marriage to the former Virginia Catherine Booth, who survives at their home in Belington.
He is survived by two daughters; Cathy D. Cicora and husband Bob and Yvette Jordon and husband Kevin all of Uniontown, Ohio, one brother; Stanley Knight of Carson City, Nevada, two sisters; Patty Lou Knight Phillips of Belington and Peggy Ann Knight Hoxworth of Stow, Ohio.
Additional survivors include three grandchildren; Brian Cicora and wife Tonya, Alicia Jordon, and Matthew Jordon, seven great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers; Gerald Knight, Kester Knight, Lee Roy Knight, and Henry Knight, and one grandchild; Jennifer Cicora.
Jimmie graduated from the Belington High School with the class of 1952 and was Methodist by faith.
He was previously employed at BF Goodrich in Akron, Ohio, from which he retired, where he was a tire builder.
He was a proud veteran serving with the United States Army and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Laurel Mountain Post 410 of Belington, and also a member of the Rubber Workers Union. Jimmie loved to bowl and scored a 300 game at the age of 77. He was an avid antique car enthusiast owning several Mopar Chrysler products and won several awards for his cars at numerous car shows. He was a wonderful father, husband, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Friends will be received from the Talbott Funeral Home, 56 N. Brandenburg St. in Belington on Wednesday, Aug. 12, from 6 – 9 p.m. and again on Thursday from 8 a.m. – noon, the funeral hour, when final rites will be conducted from the funeral home chapel with Pastor Downing Gregory officiating. Interment will then follow in the Fraternal Cemetery near Belington where full military rites will be accorded by the United States Army and the American Legion Post 96 of Belington.
Due to the Governor’s recent order face coverings are recommended while paying your respects in the funeral home.
