David Hugh ‘Boots’ Humphrey

David Hugh “Boots” Humphrey, 68, a resident of Parsons peacefully passed from this life on Saturday, Oct. 24, 2020, at Henry Clay Villa in Markleysburg, Pennsylvania, and under the care of Three Rivers Hospice.

He was born on Saturday, June 14, 1952, in Baltimore, Maryland, a son of the late Floyd Cleveland Humphrey and Wanda Ethel Shreve Humphrey.

Left to cherish Boots’ memory is a daughter, Dana Marie Hipp of Reedsville, two grandchildren, Brandon Scott Hipp and Autumn Cassidy Hipp, two brothers, Arlie W. Humphrey of Baltimore, Maryland, and Floyd J. Humphrey of Bunker Hill, and several nieces, nephews, and great friends.

Preceding Boots in death besides his parents was one brother, James L. Humphrey Sr. and one sister, Onia C. “Sis” Strawderman.

Boots attended Parsons High School and was a veteran having served with the United States Army. He had worked for the cities of Hambleton and Parsons. Boots took great pride and was passionate about keeping the streets of Parsons and the Rail Trail clean and free of debris and snow. The Parsons Revitalization Organization honored him with a special service award for these efforts. Later, the citizens of Parsons nominated him for the “Volunteer of the Year” award which was presented to him at the annual Celebrate Parsons Banquet. He was proud to give back to his community. Boots attended St. Paul’s United Methodist Church where he was greatly loved and embraced by all. He recently professed his love for Jesus and became a child of the King. Boots was a local icon known by many as “the man with the leaf blower.” He will be greatly missed. Boots happens!
