Herman R. Burns
Herman R. Burns Sr., 82, of Thomas, died on Monday, Jan. 11, 2021, at his home.
Born on Jan. 12, 1938, in Douglas, he was the son of the late Ira Glenn and Dora Elizabeth (Losh) Burns.
He worked at Sunrise Sanitation for 25 years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved to explore and tinker with everything. Horseshoes was one of his favorite pastimes and he never met a stranger.
He leaves behind his wife, Rhoda Burns; children, Herman Ray Burns, Jr. and wife, Cindy, of Thomas, Loye Ira Burns and wife, Bobbie, of Thomas, Rebecca Burns Sharp of Parsons, Brittany Burns Carr and husband, Tyler, of Oakland, Bryan Burns of Oakland and Brandon Burns and wife, Grace, of Oakland; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Rebecca Lynn Burns Lipscomb and husband, Gary, of Parsons, and Zetta Jean Sweitzer of Oakland; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorthy Virginia Burns; a brother, Loye Ira Burns; and a sister, Regina Louise Fresh.
Friends will be received at the Hinkle-Fenner Funeral Home, 567 Thomas Ave, Davis, on Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2021, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on Thursday, Jan. 14, 2021, from 10 to 11 a.m., after which time a funeral service will be held with Fr. Timothy Grassi officiating.

Interment will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Thomas.
