Karen Glendoris Lipscomb Price
Karen Glendoris Lipscomb Price, 77, a resident of Chesterfield, Missouri, departed this life Tuesday March 9, 2021, in the comforts of her home. Death was following a period of declining health.
Karen was born on June 18, 1943, in Barbour County, West Virginia, the daughter of the late Calvin K. “Sammy” Lipscomb and Justine L. Poe Lipscomb Kelley.
She is survived by her loving companion, Daniel Jordon of Chesterfield, Missouri; brother, Forrest Kevin Kelley and wife, Sue, of Belington; stepsister, Patricia Paolini of North Canton, Ohio; niece, Ryan Kelley; nephew, Justin Kelley; and a great niece, Avery Huffman.
Additional survivors include her special friends, Nancy Keyton and Jane Neukomm, of Chesterfield, Missouri.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepfather; Forrest “Bus” Kelley; grandparents, Gilbert Filmore Lipscomb, Anna Loma Lipscomb, Thurman Poe Sr. and Myrtle Poe.
Karen was a graduate of the Belington High School with the class of 1961 and was protestant by faith. She was also a graduate of WVU, graduating with her Master’s degree plus 30 in education. Karen taught in Baltimore, Maryland, Charlottesville, Virginia, and Boston, Massachusetts. She spent most of her career teaching high school English in Ferguson-Florissant School District in Missouri. In her spare time, she loved to read and travel and really enjoyed having discussions of current events. She was a very caring person and was always willing to help someone in need, she will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Per her request cremation was honored. A graveside service will be held at the Fraternal Cemetery at Belington on Saturday April 24, 2021, at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Jimmie E. Tallman officiating.
