Theodore B. ‘Teddy’ Leach

Theodore B. “Teddy” Leach, 86, passed away surrounded by his family on July 22, 2021, at Talbott’s Personal Care Home in Belington, West Virginia, under the care of Mountain Hospice. He had been in declining health for quite some time.

He was born to the late Blaine Harold Leach and Helen Maxine (Simon) Leach in Philippi, West Virginia, on Sept. 26, 1934.

Teddy is survived by brothers, Thomas (Ann) Leach of Lockport, New York, and Larry (Karen) Leach of Tacy; sisters, Gloria Oppenheimer of Xenia, Ohio, and Helen (Encil) Auvil of Philippi; and many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Leach is preceded in death by brothers, Harold Leach and Blaine Leach Jr.; and brother-in-law, Bill Oppenheimer.

Teddy attended the schools of Barbour County. He served in the U.S. Army in Colorado from 1957 to 1959.

After being discharged from the military, he worked the rest of his years for his father in the coal mines. He enjoyed going to the movies in his early years and loved watching westerns on television. His most favorite was “Gun Smoke” and “Raw Hide.” Teddy could also tell you all the actors’ names.

The family of Teddy would like to thank Talbott’s Personal Care Home and Mountain Hospice for the love and care that they showed to our brother.

The family will receive friends from the Kittle Family Funeral Home, 265 Beech Ave., Philippi, West Virginia, on Saturday, July 24, 2021, from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., with the Rev. Jimmie Tallman officiating, and interment will follow in Mary’s Chapel Cemetery near Philippi, where full military rites will be accorded.
