Billy Joe Nelson
Billy Joe Nelson, 88, of Dry Fork, West Virginia, went home to be with his Lord on Saturday, July 31, 2021.
He was born to the late Edgar E. and Nela C. (Huffman) Nelson on June 12, 1933, in Laneville, West Virginia. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his former wife, Lena Irene Eye Nelson; one sister, Betty Jean Nelson Kimble; and four brothers, Roscoe Nelson, Donald “Doodle” Nelson, Roy Nelson and Burley “Jake” Nelson.
He is survived by his daughter, Angela Nelson Kisner and husband, Richard E. Kisner Jr., of Montrose, West Virginia; one grandson, Jeremy Richard Kisner and wife, Courtney, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; one brother, James “Jim” Nelson of Dry Fork, West Virginia; three sisters, Mary Smith of North Carolina; Doris Cohen of North Carolina and Joanne Huffman of Elkins, West Virginia; one special nephew, Joseph “Joe” Nelson of Dry Fork, West Virginia; one special great-nephew, Kaden Walker Nelson of Dry Fork, West Virginia; a special brother-in-law, Elvin Kisamore of Dry Fork, West Virginia; and several other nieces and nephews.
Billy Joe was a lifetime member of Local 132 International Union of Operating Engineers and a member of the West Virginia Department of Agriculture. He enjoyed riding his four wheeler and John Deere tractor around the farm and keeping in touch with his family and friends.
Friends may call from 9 until 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 7, 2021, at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday with Rev. Brian L. Seders officiating. Interment will follow in the Nelson Cemetery at Dryfork, West Virginia.
