Shirley Mae Bohon Carr
Shirley Mae Bohon Carr, 80, a resident of Elkins, West Virginia, departed this life Saturday evening, Nov. 27, 2021, at the WVU Medicine’s Ruby Memorial Hospital at Morgantown, West Virginia.
She was born Wednesday, Nov. 19, 1941 at Silica, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Franklin and Ordie Cowger Bohon.
On Feb. 27, 1960, at Oakland, Maryland, she was married to Gary Fay Carr, who preceded her in death May 12, 2018.
Surviving are three sons, Leroy Adam Carr and wife, Vanessa, Robert Dale “Bob” Carr and Norman Allen Carr, all of Elkins; two daughters, Sylvia Carr, and Norma Jean Badgett and husband, Tom, of Elkins; one brother, Alvin Bohon of Elkins; one sister, Jean Hornick of Elkins; five grandchildren, Matthew Badgett, Nathan Badgett, Chelsea Badgett, Nic Carr and Noah Carr; nine great-grandchildren, Thomas Badgett, Dewayne Badgett, Abbigail Badgett, Emma Badgett-Everett, Henry Badgett, Kyran Badgett, Macie Mae Badgett-Everett, Oliver Badgett and Keira Badgett; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death are three brothers, James, Charles and Doyle Bohon.
She attended the schools of Elkins, and had worked for Kroger’s for many years. She enjoyed life, flowers, gardening, listening to country music and spending time with her family and grandchildren. She was a Christian by faith.
The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins from 4 to 7 p.m., Thursday. Final Rites will be conducted at the funeral home, Friday, Dec. 3, 2021, at 11 a.m. The Reverend Dr. Ken Shiflet will officiate and interment will follow at the Mountain State Memorial Gardens at Gilman, West Virginia.
