Lois Jean Skidmore


Lois Jean Skidmore, 85, a resident of Elkins, passed away Sunday, Nov. 28, 2021, in the Davis Medical Center.

She was born Sept. 24, 1936, at Parkersburg, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Walter T. DeQuasie and Thelma G. Swezy DeQuasie.

On July 31, 1976, she was married to Joe Edward Skidmore, who passed away Nov. 15, 2021.

Mrs. Skidmore is survived by her son, Robert Michael “Mike” Kerns and his wife, Ruth, of Elkins; and her sister, Patricia Riffle of Lexington, Kentucky. Also surviving are three grandsons, Tyler, Isaac and Alexander Kerns, all residents of Idaho. Numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews also survive.

Also preceding her in death was one brother, Thomas DeQuasie.

Mrs. Skidmore was a graduate of Parkersburg High School. She worked most of her adult life as an interior designer. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Elkins and a member of Ladies Circle Number 5 of the Church. She was also a former member of the Elkins Women’s Club.

Mrs. Skidmore’s request for cremation will be honored and a memorial service will be held at a later date.

The family requests that flowers be omitted and memorial contributions be made to the First United Methodist Church, 315 Kerens Ave., Elkins, WV 26241 in her memory.
