James Arthur Wilt

Mr. James Arthur Wilt, 69, a resident of Belington, departed this life Tuesday May 17, 2022, at his home. He had been declining in health, but death was unexpected.

He was born May 24, 1952, at Steubenville, Ohio, a son of the late James Peter and Clara Margaret Barb Wilt. He was formerly married to Betty Mae Swogger Wilt, who preceded him in death Oct. 26, 2021.

He is survived by six children, Becky Wilt and fiance, John Rae, of Mingo Junction, Ohio, Christopher James Wilt of Elkins, Dawn Lawrence and husband, Steve, of Belington, Jamie Wilt of North Carolina, Marcus Wilt of Weston, and Timmy Wilt and wife, Crystal, of Belington; siblings, Jean Weese and husband, Ed, of Belington, Carol Sharp and husband, Eddie, of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, Janis Waugaman and husband, Roger, of Brilliant, Ohio, and Linda Hill and husband, Nick, of Mansfield, Ohio. Additional survivors include 10 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews and former wife, Cathy Wilt of Weston.

In addition to his parents and former wife, he was preceded in death by one sister, Sandy Boggs.

Mr. Wilt graduated from the Roosevelt School for the hearing impaired and also attended a school in Columbus, Ohio, for the hearing impaired, where he learned the trade of dry cleaning. He was employed for many years for Gambill Amusement as a ride operator. He was an avid hunter and was loved by all who knew him.

Friends will be received at the Talbott Funeral Home 56 N. Brandenburg Street in Belington on Friday May 20, 2022, from 6-8 p.m. Per James’s request cremation will be honored.
