Floyd Armond Morris


Floyd Armond Morris, 83, a resident of Valley Head, West Virginia, passed away Wednesday June 29, 2022 in the Davis Medical Center in Elkins.

Armond was born Oct. 17, 1938, in Kasson, West Virginia, a son of the late Howard and Christine (Frey) Morris.

Surviving are children, Rick and wife, Mandy, of Moatsville, Neal and wife, Bonnie, of Harrisonburg, Virginia, Joe and wife, Tammy, of Harrisonburg, Virginia, Lori and husband, Chris, of Harrisonburg, Virginia, Connie and husband, Robin, of Clarksburg, West Virginia, Ronnie and wife, Debbie, of Chesapeake, Virginia; grandchildren, Austin, Issac, Garet, Jessi, Patrick, Ray, Freda, Josh, Zach, Erynn, Joseph, Meagan, Caleb, Toby, Jovin, Michael and Sarah; great-grandchildren, Rylan, Piper, Wesley, Timberlynn, Bristol, Braxton, Brentley, Ryleigh, Chase, Skyler and David; niece, Michele Shaffer; and nephew, Chris Helman.

Armond was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, HA and Florence Morris and Floyd “Thamer” and Hazel Frey; brother, Albert Morris; and sister, Patricia Helman.

Armond worked as a riverboat captain for Campbell Transportation/ Campbell Barge Line for over 35 years and spent most of his life pushing coal barges on the Ohio River. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching wrestling, going to auctions and watching dirt track races. Armond was a graduate of Kasson School class of 1958.

Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home and Crematory 220 N. Walnut St. Philippi on Saturday, July 2, from 2-4 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at 4 p.m. In honor of Armond’s request cremation will be honored and will follow the services.
