Georgiana ‘Jane’ Collett
COLLETT
Georgiana “Jane” Collett, 80, a resident of Beverly, West Virginia, passed away Saturday, Dec. 24, 2022, in the Davis Medical Center.
She was born Sept. 12, 1942, in Elkins, a daughter of the late Marion and Eunice Willis McLaughlin.
On Feb. 14, 1963, in Beverly, she was married to George H. Collett, who survives. They had celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary.
Also surviving is one son, George “Russ” Collett and wife, Sherry, of Beverly; one daughter, Sharron Collett Stuart and husband, Chris, of Charles Town, West Virginia; one brother, Thomas McLaughlin and wife, Kay, of Wilson, North Carolina; and one sister, Harriet Nicely of Pigeon Forge, Tennessee.
Seven grandchildren, Madison Collett Mallow and husband, Leslie, Haley Collett, Deighton, Abigail and Sophie Stuart also survive.
Also preceding her in death was her brother, Richard “Dick” McLaughlin; sister-in-law, Linda McLaughlin Swecker; and grandson, Michael Albert “Mac” Collett.
Jane was a graduate of Beverly High School and had attended Fairmont State College. She had retired from the WV State Unemployment Office, where she had worked as an Intake Claims Officer. She was a founding Den Mother of Pack 66 of Beverly, Boy Scouts of America, and was a member of the Randolph County Extension CEO’s; Elkins Promenaders; and past President of the Baptist Union Association State of WV. She was also a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church; Mt. Carmel Women’s Missionary Society; BYF Adult Leader and the Mt. Carmel Choir.
Friends may call from noon until 2 p.m., Friday, Dec. 30, 2022, at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday from the funeral home chapel with Rev. Leon Brown officiating.
Interment will follow in Mt. Vernon Cemetery near Beverly.
