Charles A. Martin Sr.

He was born Dec. 2, 1933, at Elkins, a son of the late Stephen A. and Ruth Riffle Martin.

He is survived by four sons, Gary and Larry Martin of Gaylord, Michigan, Charles A. Martin Jr. of Jackson, Michigan, and Mark R. Martin of Lincoln Park, Michigan; one daughter, Mildred R. Mickey of Gaylord, Michigan; five brothers, Richard Martin of Groveport, Ohio, Steven Martin of Elkins, Robert Martin of Logan, Ohio, and James Martin of West Virginia; two sisters, June Sears of Smyrna, Tennessee, and Terri Chenoweth of Gilman. Fourteen grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, 13 great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews also survive.

Also preceding him in death was one sister, Betty Jarmow; and one brother, Donald Martin of Henderson, Nebraska.

Charles retired from the General Motors Company where he worked as a supervisor in the general assembly department.

Charles was a 2011 West Virginia Horseshoe Champion for his age group and for several years, he was on the Horseshoe league in Elkins. He had also been a Little League coach in Detroit, Michigan.

Mr. Martin’s request for cremation has been honored.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the West Virginia Childrens Home Citizen Advisory Board, 230 Heavner Avenue, Elkins, WV 26241 in memory of Charles.
