CAVE
Clyde Eugene “Gene” Cave entered eternal life on Thursday, Oct. 5, 2023, at Mountain Living Community Assisted Living under the care of Mountain Hospice. His death was attributed to his battle with dementia for several years.

On March 16, 1957, in Baltimore, Maryland, he married the love of his life the late Alma (Fincham) Cave, who preceded him in death.
Also, preceding him in death were siblings, Clarence and twins Carlin and Catherine Cave.

All of them had a special place in their PopPop’s heart and were the twinkle in his eye.
Also surviving are two sisters, Charlene Smith of Elkins, West Virginia, and Carolyn Trieber of Shrewsbury, Pennsylania; and one brother, Charles “Chuck” Cave of Dailey, West Virginia, cherished in-laws; and many nieces and nephews.
After graduating from Tygarts Valley High School in 1956, Gene left West Virginia for Maryland. He began working at Key Highway Shipyard in Baltimore and later moved onto Bethlehem Steel Shipyard in Sparrows Point, Maryland, where he worked until retiring in 1986 at the age of 48.
After retiring, he and Alma returned to their beloved Randolph County, West Virginia, and opened the G&A Sub Shop in Elkins from 1985 to 1992. All the while, he worked as a rural carrier for the US Postal Service delivering mail from the Glady, West Virginia, Post Office through the Sinks of Gandy. He loved spending time in Bemis, West Virginia, fishing, hunting and relaxing. Gene was an avid dirt track enthusiast.
Along with his wife, he owned the G&A Sub Shop C2 late model dirt track car and loved going to watch his drivers at the local dirt tracks.
He loved his family unconditionally, expected respect, and was there to help them whenever they asked. HE WILL BE MISSED.
