Ronald ‘Ronnie’ Clayton Armstrong

Ronald “Ronnie” Clayton Armstrong, 75, a resident of Valley Bend, passed from this life Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2024. He had been in his usual health and death was unexpected.
Ronnie was born Friday, Aug. 12, 1949, in Elkins, a son of the late Oswald Jackson Armstrong and Lelia Simmons Armstrong. On Jan. 15, 1977, in Mill Creek, he married the former Debra “Debbie” Snyder, who survives at home.
Left to cherish his memory are two children, Nicole Matthew and husband, Timothy Kip, of Valley Head, Jack Armstrong and girlfriend, Jordan Fincham, of Mill Creek, grandchildren, Leila Lansberry and husband, CJ, of Valley Head, Tracey Matthew, Timothy Jay Matthew, great-grandchildren, Bransen, Alivia and Creed; two sisters, Sharon Matney of Sterling, Virginia, and Delores Shiflett and husband, Tom, of Cedar Bluff, Virginia; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws.
Preceding him in death besides his parents were three brothers, David, Tommy and Jeff Armstrong; one brother-in-law, Roger Matney, who was like a father to Ronnie.
Ronnie was a 1967 graduate of Tygarts Valley High School. He had been employed as a local coal miner and in 2014, he retired from the Huttonsville Correctional Center as a correctional officer. Ronnie was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, vegetable gardening, and doing yard work. He had a passion for following and rooting for the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Ronnie’s request for cremation was honored. The Randolph Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements for Ronald Clayton Armstrong.
