Betty Jean Rigsby McClure

Betty Jean Rigsby McClure, 93, a resident of Elkins, West Virginia, departed this life early Sunday morning, Oct. 5, 2025, at her home, surrounded by her loving family and under the care of West Virginia Caring. She had been in declining health although death was unexpected.
She was born Thursday, Aug. 25, 1932, at Gauley Ridge, Webster County, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Lawrence Earl Rigsby and Esta Brady Rigsby.
On Dec. 24, 1949, she was married to Ralph Hartsell McClure, who preceded her in death October 4, 2002.
Surviving are one son, Kevin Mark McClure and Karen Lantz Smith of Buckhannon; two daughters, Mary Jo McClure and Theresa Alice McClure, both of Elkins; one granddaughter, Jillian Marie McClure of Beverly; and several nieces and nephews.
She is the last surviving member of her immediate family, having been preceded in death by two brothers, Earl Rigsby and Hilbert Rigsby; two sisters, Louella Rigsby Ritchie and Helen Hartford; and one grandson, Joshua Thomas McClure on Jan. 21, 2012.
She attended the schools of Webster County and was a cook at a boarding house in Webster County. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Elkins. Betty enjoyed flowers, gardening, housekeeping, cooking, walking with the girls and reading.
A graveside service will be held at the Mountain State Memorial Gardens at Gilman, West Virginia, on Thursday, Oct. 9, 2025, at 11 a.m.
Pastor Rick Price will officiate and interment will follow.
