Dale Wilson Chewning
CHEWNING
Dale Wilson Chewning, 89, a resident of Mill Creek, departed peacefully from this life on Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2025, surrounded by family and under the care of West Virginia Caring.
Dale was born Tuesday, July 7, 1936, in Cassity, a son of the late Wilson Rhodes Chewning and Bessie Dove Rader Chewning.
On Aug. 28, 1965, he married the former Geraldine June Currence, who preceded him in death Nov. 18, 2017. They shared and celebrated 52 years of marriage.
Their devotion to each other was only exceeded by the love they shared for their two sons, Randall “ReRun” Chewning and wife, Donette, of Mill Creek, and Jeffrey Neil Chewning of Mill Creek.
Dale attended the schools of Randolph County and had been employed for over 35 years with Valley Supply Company in Elkins. He assisted in a part-time roll for many years after his retirement. His talents were many, and he was always eager to serve others to the best of his abilities. A skilled craftsman and electrician, Dale helped build, renovate and remodel many homes for nearby family, friends and neighbors. Dale also enjoyed listening to and playing music. He was particularly fond of his mandolin. In his later years, Dale especially enjoyed spending time with Tucker, the family Golden Retriever.
Preceding Dale in death besides his parents and wife were siblings, Delano Chewning, Ray Chewning, Velma Chewning Riegel and Pansy Chewning Taylor; and two infant siblings. Josephine and James Chewning.
Dale’s request for a graveside service will be honored.
Family and Friends are welcome to gather at the Blue Rock Union Mission Church for graveside rights on Monday, Oct. 13, 2025, at 1 p.m.
Pastors Harold and Deborah Swecker will officiate.
The Randolph Funeral Home and Cremation Services has been entrusted with the arrangements for Dale Wilson Chewning.
