Joyce Taylor Crites, 91, of Buckhannon, West Virginia, went home to be with the Lord on Nov. 9, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on April 5, 1934, to James Taylor and Opal Jeffries Taylor in Roanoke, West Virginia, Joyce lived a long and full life marked by deep faith, steadfast love and a generous spirit.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Frank Crites; her cherished son, Rick Crites; her dear grandson, Michael Weaver; her sisters, Mary Lou Taylor and Helen June Gibson; and brother, Billy Jo Taylor; and her parents.

Though her heart endured great loss, she carried herself with grace and continued to pour love into the lives of those around her. A devoted follower of Christ, Joyce attended church nearly every Sunday, finding joy and strength in her faith community. She cherished time spent with family and friends, always keeping relationships close to her heart. Known for her warm hospitality, she loved to entertain and host — whether it was a holiday meal, a Sunday gathering, or a casual afternoon visit. Her home was a place where laughter was shared, prayers were spoken, and memories were made. Her grandchildren will forever treasure the time spent at her house, where they were met with open arms, delicious meals, and unconditional love. She taught them the value of kindness, the comfort of home, and the importance of faith.

She is survived by, one daughter, Suzanne Sheets and husband, Ron, of Buckhannon; four grandchildren, Lindsay Weaver-Gibson and husband, David, of Sacramento, California, R.J. Crites and wife, Katrina, of Buckhannon, Lauren Crites of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and Eric Milburn of Sarasota, Florida; two great-grandchildren, Taylor and Torin Gibson of Sacramento; one sister, Elizabeth “Libby” Taylor Adams of Stow, Ohio; one daughter-in-law, Debby Milburn of Pittsburgh; several nieces and nephews; her special church family as well as many dear friends who will miss her warmth, wisdom and steadfast love.

Friends will be received for a Celebration of her Life Saturday, Nov. 15, 2025, from noon till 2 p.m. at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., with Pastor Bob Anderson and Mike Hinkle officiating.

Burial will follow in the Heavner Cemetery in Buckhannon.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Tennerton United Methodist Church or Crosslines in her memory.

Her life was a testament to faith, family, and love — a legacy that will live on in all who were blessed to know her.
