Richard Lee “Dick” Jones, 81, of Mabie passed away on Saturday, Nov. 8, 2025, at United Hospital Center in Bridgeport, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born Saturday, Dec. 11, 1943, in Somerset, Ohio, a son of the late Raymond Cyril Jones and Orpha Mae Davis Jones.
On July 11, 1964, in Junction City, Ohio, he married his loving wife, the former Sharon L. Heinzman. They had celebrated 61 years of marriage.
Also left to cherish his memory are three children, Jeanne Rockwell (John Isner) of Kerens, Richard “Chip” Jones and James Jones,both of Mabie; grandchildren, Jacob Jones of Grafton, Abby Liggett and husband, Jeremy, of Mabie, Ariel Jones and wife, Kaci, of Philippi, and James Jones II of Mabie; great-grandchildren, Jaxon Liggett, Jaxon Lanham, Alayna Jones, Rylee Jo Liggett and Hadlee Liggett; brother, Raymond “Junior” Jones and wife, Susan, of Mt. Perry, Ohio; nieces, Mary K. (John) Patterson, Angie (Dave) Custer, Rae Jean (Dave) Pollock and Tracy (Mark) Chaney; nephews, Kirt (Sue) Jones, Bob Henery, Donnie (Karen) Curry and Dan (Amber) Curry; and brother-in-law, James Heinzman and wife, Linda, of Stuart, Florida.
Preceding him in death besides his parents were in-laws, Warren and Mary Lou Heinzman; sister, Mary Ann Curry; granddaughter, Hannah Jones; brother-in-law, Doyle Heinzman; nieces, Alicia Jones and Megan Custer; and nephews, Bill Henery, Jack Henery and Mike Curry.
Dick graduated from Sheridan High School in Perry County, Ohio. He worked as a heavy equipment operator on several surface mines and later Corridor H. He loved to deer hunt and enjoyed all day fishing trips with his special friend, Elmer Currence.
He loved his family dearly and always made sure to tell them so. He looked forward to every family dinner and holiday with them. He enjoyed sitting on the porch with his wife and any company that decided to join them. Grandpa was a jack-of-all trades and to his grandkids, there was nothing impossible for him. He was never caught without his pocketknife, hat, pistol or tobacco.
He will be missed very much by all who loved and knew him.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of United Hospital Center, St. Joseph’s Hospital and Crestview Manor Healthcare Center for the care they provided.
Visitation will be held at the Randolph Funeral Home Thursday, Nov. 13, 2025, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m.
A funeral service will be conducted from the funeral home Friday, Nov. 14, 2025, at 11 a.m.
Pastor Stella Faye Moyer will officiate, and interment will follow at Mountain State Memorial Gardens in Gilman.
The Randolph Funeral Home and Cremation Services has been entrusted with the arrangements for Richard Lee Jones.
