Buckwheat Breakfast and Irish Fall Festival on tap in Barbour

Hello and happy fall from Barbour County!

I like the cooler weather, and I’ve noticed that the leaves are starting to change.

Today, Sept, 22, is a day full of fun around the area.

There will be a Buckwheat Breakfast from 7 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Tacy Community Center. Come on out for all you can eat buckwheat cakes, sausage, and biscuits & gravy. The cost for adults will be $10 and $5 for children 12 and under.

After breakfast, head over to the Union Community for their Irish Fall Festival. There will be fun for all ages, including corn hole, dime toss, music, road bowling and more. The kitchen opens at noon, with road bowling at 1 p.m.

If you haven’t had enough fun for the day, check out the cake walk at the Talbott Community Building. The kitchen opens at 5 p.m., and the cake walk starts at 7 p.m. All proceeds will benefit the Talbott Cemetery.

Union Community Youth Group will be having a clothing give away and bake sale on Sept. 28 – 29 from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.

Philippi Main Street’s annual Scarecrow & Light Pole Decorating Contest will be held through the month of October. Participants can decorate a light pole with a xcarecrow or in a “Fall Theme.”
