Hospital welcomes new oncologist

Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital (SJMH) is pleased to announce the addition of Dr. Vaibhav Verma, M.D., to the Chemotherapy/Infusion Department at the Weston hospital. Dr. Verma specializes in oncology and hematology.

Assistant SJMH CEO Kevin Stalnaker is pleased with the addition of Verma to the department.

“At Stonewall Jackson we really pride ourselves on delivering the latest in cancer care to our community,” he explained. “With our on-site pharmacy, chemotherapy, and lab services, our cancer patients can see their physician, undergo testing and receive their treatment — all in one day. Verma brings a wealth of experience, which enhances our cancer program, making it possible for patients to receive the care they have grown to rely on from caregivers they have grown to know and trust.”

Verma received his residence training at Nassau University Medical Center, East Meadow, NY in internal medicine. His fellowships are in hematology/oncology from State University of New York Downtown Medical Center, Brooklyn, N.Y. His certifications are in oncology, hematology, and internal medicine.

Verma and the SJMH cancer team of Marcie Stump, RN, Kathy Daley, RN, Katie Gum, RN, and Angie Carder, Unit Secretary/Tech, create the treatment plan, which benefits the patient together with the convenient experience they deserve.

Should the treatment plan include radiation therapy, SJMH’s partnership with Mon Health provides access to radiation therapy at the Mon Health Cancer Center in Morgantown, under the direction of Radiation Oncologist Paul Saconn.
