Summer is ticking away

Hello from Barbour County! Summer is ticking away quickly. School starts next month!

There will be a hotdog social at Kasson UM Church today, beginning at 5 p.m. Hotdogs, green beans, baked beans, potato salad, scalloped potatoes, cole slaw, homemade pies and more will be on the menu. The UM Ladies Auxiliary is sponsoring this event. Turn off of Rt. 92 at Kasson School and travel one mile.

Also this evening July 13, there will be a cake walk at the Talbott Community Building. The kitchen opens at 5 p.m. and the cake walk starts at 7 p.m. All proceeds will go to the Talbott Cemetery.

Corley UM Church will be having Vacation Bible School July 14-18 from 6 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. each evening.

The Philip Barbour Band Boosters will be having a car wash/bake sale/yard sale/chicken BBQ on July 19 from 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. and on July 20 from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. These kids work so hard all year long, and they are the “Pride of Barbour County”, so come out and give them your support.

The Barbour County cancer support group will have their monthly meeting on July 19 at 11 a.m. at the Medallion Restaurant in Philippi. This is open to all cancer survivors, caregivers and family members. For more information, call Deanna at (304) 457-2684.

There will be a Pig Roast Pot Luck at the Union Community Building on July 20 at 6 p.m. This is sponsored by the Barbour County Democratic Women and Executive Committee. The meat, drinks and table ware will be provided. Please bring a covered dish to share.

The Belington Volunteer Fire Department is once again gearing up for the annual Fall Bash, which is held in September. See your favorite Belington fireman to purchase tickets.
