Group thankful for local efforts
Elkins Church Women United want to thank the Elkins Ministerial Association members for leading the ecumenical worship services during Holy Week. We also would like to thank the musicians for sharing their talents, First Church of Christ for hosting us each day, Davis Medical Center for permitting us to park on their lot and a special thank you to all those who worshipped with us.
I want to thank all the different churches that provided the lunches each day. We received food and kitchen assistance from these churches: First United Methodist, Mercy Chapel, Orlena United Methodist, Wayside United Methodist, Davis Memorial Presbyterian, Saint Brendan Catholic, Holy Trinity Lutheran, First Baptist, First Church of Christ, Otterbein United Methodist, Israel United Methodist, Elkins Church of God, Church of the Brethren, Woodford Memorial United Methodist, Grace Episcopal, Bowden Family Worship Center and Elkins Church of the Nazarene. I hope that I have not forgotten anyone, but if I have, I apologize. These church groups worked tirelessly to provide lunches for 80 to 100 worshippers each day.
Your donations of $1,125 for lunches will allow Elkins Church Women United to possibly continue their monetary support for the following organizations: Mountain Hospice, Randolph County Cancer Support Group, Women’s Aid in Crisis, Randolph County Homeless Shelter, Meals on Wheels, Ministerial Association of Elkins, Catholic Charities, Randolph County Senior Center, Youth Health Service, Back Pack Project of First United Methodist Church, Good Shepherd Helping Hand, Common Grounds of Woodford and Tyrand Parish. The women will decide who we will support at our May Friendship Celebration May 5 at Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church. Everyone is welcome to join us and help make this decision.
All of this work could not have been accomplished without everyone serving together in Jesus’ name. It was another faithful year of lifting up Jesus’ death for us and God’s love and grace for each of us. Thank you once again, and we pray that you keep Jesus in your life through a local church.
