How to cut down our carbon footprint

Timothy M. Simmons has a novel idea to cut our carbon footprint. He says, let’s give every household $5,000 to be spent only on renewable energy. Since you can’t put a windmill or a dam on the property of most households, he is saying merely to install solar panels. That’s a nice idea. Who is going to pay for it? The chicken-plucker in Arkansas? The lobster fisherman in Maine? The Wal-Mart associate in New Orleans?

Or the 1%? The top 1% owns 38% of America’s wealth. The three richest individuals have more wealth than the bottom 50%.

Are we going to ask those people to help save our planet from the looming climate catastrophes?
