Just what does it stand for today?

Both of my parents were Democrat, obviously. I’m sure Republican families had their version of my dad’s explanation, perhaps something along the lines of: “Republicans believe in less government and more hard work. Democrats want high taxes and welfare.” Political parties were easy to understand.

Now it’s a muddled mess, especially if you’re a Democrat or even a liberal professor.

Today’s Democratic Party relies on big corporations, especially big Wall Street investment banks, for campaign donations. The old alliance between the party and labor unions is dead. Democrats support trade deals that hurt American workers. When the economy tanked at the end of the last decade, President Obama abandoned laid-off workers and foreclosed upon homeowners twisting in the wind; bailing out banks instead.

Hillary Clinton, who supported the TPP trade deal before she was against it, promised bankers she’d be their friend if she won. Whatever the Democrats are now, they’re not the party of working Americans.

So what is the Democratic Party now? What does it stand for and against?

I honestly don’t know. I’ve become obsessed with politics. So if I don’t know what Democrats want, it’s a safe bet many others don’t, either.

Do the following goals sound familiar to recent political activity in our society?

Break down cultural standards of morality by promoting pornography and obscenity in books, motion pictures and TV.

Present homosexuality and promiscuity as normal, natural and healthy.

Infiltrate churches and replace revealed religion with social religion.

Eliminate prayer or any religious expression in schools on the grounds that it violates separation of church and state.

Discredit the American Constitution by calling it old-fashioned and out of step with modern needs.Support any socialist movement to give centralized control over any part of our culture, education, social agencies, welfare programs, etc.

Create the impression that violence and insurrection are legitimate aspects of the American tradition; that special interest groups should rise up and make a united force.

Every goal cited above are contrary to the principles that guided this nation to greatness for 150 years.

Sanctuary cities, for example, are not only a constitutional violation, they are another example of promoting contempt for the rule of law. It is time for good Democrats to return to America’s principles.

Today the Democrats, who use lies, slander and false accusations to destroy whomever they fear will stand up for our Constitution and Bill of Rights, are at it again. As the purveyors of socialism under the guise of good, Democrats want to complete Obama’s vow to “fundamentally change America” — in other words, destroy our Constitution, bring in a Soviet-style rule that puts the government in charge of our daily lives and severely limit our freedom.

The Democratic Party at this moment in history belongs to those who hate our institutions, hate the limits of our system of government, and hate the American way of life. They have become the party of mob rule. There’s a line where civility necessarily starts to break down, and they’re definitely heading straight for it, if they haven’t crossed it already.
