TVHS coaches set to be honored
I want to take this opportunity to congratulate the Weber and Wamsley family for having their name branded on the gym floor as Weber-Wamsley Court.
I remember Coach Weber when I was a freshman at Tygarts Valley. Two of my brothers played for Coach Weber in the 1950s. He was an outstanding coach. I kept in contact with Coach Weber until his death. He shared many stories with me.
Now regarding Coach Wamsley: I met you when I was a freshman in 1968. We have kept contact with each other through the years. I remember going to Doddridge County and surprising you on the way back from a ball game in Pittsburgh. We used to walk from the high school to Laverne’s Restaurant to eat lunch during second semester in my junior year. I can tell many stories about you, Coach Wamsley! But I’ll just leave it like that.
I’m very proud of you. You deserve this honor because you have helped so many kids over the years. Andy, Janice, Cheri, Steve, Marc and Jane and the rest of your family are very proud of you. Crystal is looking down right now smiling and saying “That’s my Dad!”
You have made your friends and classmates proud, too. I am proud to call you may friend, as well. Everybody will come to the gym now and say what a good compliment this is to Coach Weber and Coach Wamsley.
Once a Bulldog, always a Bulldog.
May God bless you all.
