Reader: Permit should be denied

I am against granting a permit for the proposed Fundamental Data LLC, Ridgeline Power Plant in Tucker County, West Virginia, which was reported in the June 28 issue of The Inter-Mountain newspaper.

Why should West Virginia become the dumping ground for pollutants for out-of-state, money-hungry companies? Why should our citizens and our children be subject to the health and environmental consequences of such a project, which will not even provide power to the grid?

It reminds me of the inexcusable acts committed in West Virginia which were portrayed in the movie, “Dark Waters” (2019), which was based upon a true story, as written in a book by Robert Bilott; a story which every citizen of this state needs to know.

We would do well to remember that “…the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil…” (excerpt from 1 Timothy 6:10, NLT)

Please do not grant this permit for a company which is not even headquartered inside the state, but is based in Purcellville, Virginia, and is employing Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, as shown in the Division of Air Quality permit application submittal for the proposed project.
